Notices from Sunday 14 May 2017

CONGREGATIONAL INFORMATION

Flowers in the sanctuary today are provided by Helen and Dennis Walton.

The band is leading our worship this morning.
Thanks to all those who contributed to last week’s offerings:
Freewill Offering £308.70
Open Plate £206.40
Total £515.10

Welcome Desk:
If you know of anyone who is in or just out of hospital or who needs an elder or staff member to call, please leave the information at the Welcome Desk. We would also appreciate suggested names to receive flowers after today’s or a forthcoming service – call at the Welcome Desk.

The monthly Prayer Diary
is included with the update on the last Sunday of every month, and also available on tables in the vestibule. God hears our prayers and does answer them. Pray without ceasing.

Come and See:
Having just finished a successful series, we have interest in more! Anyone wanting to find out about the basics of Christian faith, about what Jesus was about & why we think he is worth following, we hope to start a couple of series soon, one daytime, one evening. If you are interested in coming along contact Gordon Palmer or Alasdair Scott or contact the office.

The Big Breakfast:
Come along after church this morning and enjoy a roll and sausage or bacon and some other breakfast treats all for the cost of a donation to Christian Aid and help launch Claremont’s Christian Aid Week.

Christian Aid Week – 14th to 20th May:
Door to Door Collection Packs:
Thank you to everyone who has offered to help with this year. Collectors’ packs are ready for collection on the table at the back of the sanctuary. Please ensure that you take your Christian Aid ID with you when you go to collect the envelopes. Can you return your bags to Joan Thomson either on Sunday 21st May or bring them along to the Church on Monday the 22nd May at 7pm when we will be counting the monies received. Thank you all for your help.

Christian Aid Envelopes:
As it is impossible to cover the whole of the parish by door to door collections, we’ve included donation envelopes inside this week’s update. If you wish to give a donation, please return your envelope to the church on Sunday 21st May. A Christian Aid bag will be available to receive your donations, on the table with the collection plates as you enter the church. A supply of envelopes is on the table at the back of the Sanctuary should you wish to take extra envelopes for friends and family. Or see me after church and I will be delighted to provide any extra envelopes you may require. The provision of the envelopes in the church update has proved very successful in past years and I hope that you will once again support this worthwhile Charity. I’ve also left some Devotional Leaflets with suggested bible readings and prayers for Christian Aid week on the table at the back of the sanctuary. Please take these and use them during Christian Aid week and keep all our collectors in your prayers during the week ahead.

Christian Aid Count:
There will be a meeting to count the donations received during Christian Aid Week on Monday 22nd May at the Church at 7pm. If you could spare some time to help with this then it would be gratefully received. The count should only take about an hour or so but the more volunteers we have the quicker it will be done. Please consider helping in this way. If you would like more information on any of these items please do not hesitate to contact Joan Thomson (01355 238100 or email joan-thomson@btconnect.com)

Praise Gathering:
Tickets now available for Praise Gathering on Sat 10th and Sun 11th June at the Royal Concert Hall, Glasgow. Please speak to Helen Cuthbertson or any of the Praise Group team.

Holiday Club: 17th – 21st July:
This year’s holiday club is taking place from Monday 17th – Friday 21st July. Jen Robertson from SU Scotland has offered her help in running it, however we’re looking for a team to help. The holiday club will be during the day (specific time morning/afternoon to be confirmed), so if you are around, and feel you would be able to help, please email Ali (alasdair.ms@icloud.com) so we can begin to make arrangements.

Beatson Cancer Charity:
Martin Russell’s son Stuart is again attempting a number of cycle challenges in aid of the Beatson Cancer Charity this summer. They include the Etape Caledonia (81 miles), the 5 Ferries (57 miles) and the Brewin Dolphin Ochil Hills (100 miles). If anyone wants to sponsor him, Martin will have the forms on Sundays.

CAP Release Group:
A new course for anyone seeking to overcome an addiction starts on Thursday 18 May from 7-9 pm in Hunter House, Maxwellton road, Calderwood. Contact Elaine Allison 07729312773 or
email elaineallison@capreleasegroups.org

Please come and join us for ‘A Great Big Coffee Morning’
on Saturday 17th June. We are holding this to raise funds for our new heating system as we need to show the grant giver that we have been able to raise £5000 specifically for this purpose. As we will all benefit from new heating, it would be wonderful if we could all come together to support this initiative. Of course we will need donations for the various stalls. We plan to have an auction, a raffle, a lucky dip (value up to £1), a scarf and bag stall, home baking and hopefully more to follow. There will also be an opportunity to make personal donations to the fund. Please consider how you can help and please come along and join us on the day.

The Glasgow Phoenix Choir:
The Phoenix Choir ‘Spring Festivals Gala Concert’ with Oban Gaelic Choir is on Friday 16 June at 7.30 pm in Moncreiff Church. Tickets costing £5 are available from Anna Forrest.
